Developed links with food industry manufacturers to highlight business improvement opportunities and provided the service of project management to a 24/5 operation and realise these opportunities resulting in operational cost reductions of over $2.5M within one year.
Identified and implemented process changes and controls in a bespoke process to provide yield improvement and process simplification leading to reduction in lead time for a business to business supplier, with a return on investment of less than one year.

Reporting directly to the US Chief Executive and leading over 250 people in multi‐shift operations.
During a crisis was asked to relocate to USA to take on the task of stabilising operations and improve customer service levels by introducing standard practices & procedures.

Director of Operations Australia Agrana Fruits SA
1996‐1999
Relocated to Australia to raise operational performance and improve declining customer confidence in the former family business which had been acquired several years earlier.
Reported jointly to the General Manager Australia and the Group Board, leading a team of around 80 people on multiple shifts.

Factory Manager Sias Foods (UK) Ltd, Northants Agrana Fruits SA
1991‐1996
Promoted quickly from initial appointment as Production Manager in this newly constructed UK facility which grew rapidly to £20m sales and 90 people.

Achievements

As Senior Project Manager, managed the global fire safety investments and supported technical development of the teams and processes in Austria, Turkey and Mexico. Responsible for defining and implementing a group wide web based RFID container logistics management system.
• Reduced fire insurance premiums by €400k through implementing 12 international fire‐protection projects in 1 year
• Improved utilisation of 60,000 containers and reduced cost by €7M through implementing a 10 site web based RFID tracking information system.

When Director of Operations USA, relocated to stabilise operations and improve service levels by establishing
standard procedures while leading over 250 people in multi‐site and shift operations.
• Working with external consultants enabled the implementation of programmes to reduce the operating costs by $2m or 18% year on year.
• Led engineering & process review to develop existing continuous & batch processes and equipment to gain a 40% increase in output, avoiding major capital investment while meeting growth of 13% year on year.

While Director of Operations Australia, asked to relocate to Australia to turn around the operational performance and rebuild customer confidence in the former family business which had been acquired several years earlier.
• Developed and managed a program to reconfigure the facility and implement new production processes to convert the operation to high‐achieving business unit, while increasing net profits from <1% to >11%, despite pressures on gross margins.
• Completely revised personnel procedures to develop and apply new processes, revise grading structures and operational monitoring to empower the operational team thereby reducing labour costs by 13%.

As Factory Manager UK, advanced rapidly following initial appointment as Production Manager of this newly constructed UK facility, which grew rapidly to £20m sales and 90 employees.
• Successfully obtained ISO certification.
• Introduced computerised planning to improve service levels and reduce operational costs.

Manufacturing Experience:

Dairy processing: Butter & Specialized Powder Processing, Cream, Dessert & Cheese production.
• Constructed setup and ran a dairy producing creams, milks, yogurt and ice cream.
• As youngest production manager held responsibility for a complex multi product site, 200+ people.
• Completed in‐company training course covering all aspects of milk processing.

Ice Cream Manufacture: Various roles with different organizations.
• Setup and ran a dairy to produce, milks, creams, yogurts and Ice cream.
• Commissioned a plant in Kuwait to meet client’s operational expectations.

Retail packaging: Baby food and low acid canned products in glassware and tin cans.

• Mexico handled raw fruit to process pulps and purees, I project managed the revision of layout and implementation of fire safety solutions during a capital expenditure program.
